Founded by Melissa and Chris Thorsen on August 3rd 2002, Thorsen Motorsports was established to serve greater Santa Maria as a one-stop motorcycle shop. The 1000 square foot retail showroom and 400 square foot service area was filled with the bare essentials necessary for the family weekend ride. It was a small yet beautiful store. Within the first year, meetings with Suzuki had begun but the store was in no shape to add such a large lineup. It was just too small.

By the time Suzuki came aboard in November 2004, the store had doubled in size twice and two different addresses. With the success of the Suzuki line in the store, the opportunity of selling Kawasaki was presented. Our excitement was brewing and when the appointed date arrived to meet with the Kawasaki representatives, the entire Thorsen staff eagerly greeted them with green hair. We were ready to sell Kawasaki's.

Within three and a half years, Thorsen Motorsports has grown to over 9200 square feet and added Suzuki and Kawasaki to their lineup.
